Solving the Problem
So I think I jumped the gun a little bit in the "Testing the Hypothesis" assignment. There, I offered a solution and in a sense interviewed people about the product, not the problem. I see my mistake there and will know better for next time! In that assignment, my opportunity I presented was being seated on the couch and realizing the remote is on the other side of the room and you want to change the channel, turn the volume up, etc. The solution I came up with was a voice operated remote, similar to the way some use Google Assistant or Siri. This would be beneficial to lazy people everywhere, those with kids, those with a disability or even the elderly who just find it hard to get up and down sometimes. I'm not sure how plausible this idea is, or if it might already exist!

Hi Lisa! Although I think that this is a good idea because everyone has encountered this situation, they may not use this product. People who encounter this kind of situation are usually a little lazy people. I think that they may be even more lazy to look and buy your product. No offense, just because they are lazy, so they are also lazy to shop...
ReplyDeleteI disagree that if people are lazy, they are also lazy when they shop. The two don't necessarily correlate. Your solution would help the people that are lazy, but it's also for people who want the new, and cutting edge technology. People want things that make their life easier, thats why fast food is so popular. It is all about how your product enhances the consumers experience and your product does that in a big way.
ReplyDeleteDon't let the lukewarm reception alter your ideas too much, as people rarely know what they actually want. I think the idea that you have come up with may seem simple on the surface but in truth it holds a lot of potential to be utilized well. People have already began developing Siri-like products and I would say now is the time to capitalize on the work of those before to make a truly innovative product.
ReplyDeleteWhile I think there is definitely a market for "lazy" people and people who want "cutting edge" technology, I think those two groups aren't large enough to warrant an individual product for TV control. A better option would be something that's a little more multifunctional. Amazon is making the Echo compatible with lights, TVs, etc which is closer to what I think your product would need to be like.
ReplyDeleteI believe this product could be very beneficial to parents, elderly and disabled. I know when I baby sit for my sister it is so terrible to be rocking my nephew and finally getting him to sleep and for the remote to be out of reach or I'm just unable to move my arms while holding a baby. I think this product could definitely be helpful to a lot of people.
